Vajrayana Ritual Arts Classes

As stated in the Tripiṭakamalla, “The Torch of the Three Methods”:

“It has the same goal but is free from all confusion,
It is rich in methods and without difficulties.
It is for those with sharp faculties.
The mantra vehicle is especially sublime.”

Vajrayana Buddhism is deeply imbued with rituals and arts from beginning to end. Whether engaging in solo retreat practices, such as month-long or years-long retreats, casual morning and evening sessions, or group gatherings, understanding and performing these rituals is essential. This includes setting up shrines, preparing offerings such as Torma (ritual cakes), playing sacred ritual instruments, and knowing the modes of recitation, such as various melodies, mudras and the order of rituals, along with their significant meanings, visualizations, and underlying logic.

In Vajrayana, every aspect is considered a symbol of the enlightened body, speech, and mind. Ordinary perceptions of body, speech, and mind are transformed into pure visions, not by assumption, but through valid reasoning and logical understanding. This approach of Vajrayana emphasizes taking pure vision as the path, unlike Sutrayana, where one must shun ordinary impure perceptions. Every movement is seen as an expression of great bliss, forms are perceived as deities, sounds as enlightened speech or mantras, and the mind’s nature as wisdom.

Learning the true meaning of Vajrayana rituals allows one to transform daily activities and movements into spiritual practice. This extraordinary path of Vajrayana ritual arts ultimately leads to enlightenment, liberating oneself and others from samsara.

Vajrayana ritual arts classes will be offered by Khenpo Namchak Dorji, tailored to the levels and needs of individuals.
