Our Mission

The mission of Luminous Heart Essence is to sustain and share the Nyingma Vajrayana lineage of Longchen Nyingtik, or “Heart Essence of the Vast Expanse,” by cultivating spiritual awareness and advancing the teachings of Buddhism in the United States and worldwide. Rooted in the principles of love, compassion, peace, and nonviolence of Lord Buddha, we emphasize the study and practice of Nyingma Vajrayana Buddhism, including its philosophy, religion, and psychology. Through our programs, we serve both the Buddhist community and the public, supporting ordained and lay practitioners, monasteries, meditation centers, and related initiatives.

Our mission also includes preserving Buddhist wisdom through research, text translation, publication, and archive maintenance. We organize conferences and courses, establish meditation centers, and charter affiliated congregations, making these teachings accessible to practitioners at all levels and fostering a diverse, inclusive community.

By fostering a global community inclusive of diverse backgrounds, we aim to cultivate unity and understanding through programs that advance the philosophy and practices of Vajrayana Buddhism. We strive to be a guiding light, providing resources and support for ordained monks and nuns, three-year retreatants, and lay practitioners. Through charitable and educational initiatives, we aspire to illuminate the path to self-discovery, inner peace, and spiritual fulfillment for all seekers, fostering an environment of love, compassion, and nonviolence.
